Reflections of Byrd's Grove

Reflections of Byrd's Grove
Oil on panel, 12x9
Overland Park Arboretum
STEMS Plein Air Event
Wanting to get as much painting in as possible while the sun is shining, I headed over to the arboretum early today.  Maggie's Pond is a wonderful reflecting pool for all that surrounds it.  I have always wanted to capture these peonies, and this was my chance!  I found a little spot of shade to work from, where both panel and palette were kept from the sun.  It was so pleasant with the cool breeze coming in off the water!  So often I paint in inclement weather - each day like this is a gift!  Rain is expected for the next 5 days - I hope they are wrong.  Painting number 506 in 506 days :)
